There the rivers are completely frozen, there are mountain ranges and most importantly, there are fish. The towns in Hwacheon are very fond of their fish. So fond, that there posters of people kissing fish and fish decorations everywhere, hanging on fences and doorsteps.
Every year they hold a fish festival which involves people digging holes in the iced up river and fishing for trout. After catching the trout, the fish are guttered and then baked.
The fish have a slightly salty taste.
Other than fishing, or the obligatory snow fight, there is also ice sledding, and looking at the ice sculptures. And of course, the food.
